ENLARGE YOUR VIEW

When crisis or disaster strikes, it will be our view of God that sustains us. How we see God will affect everything we do and say. If our view of God is small, distorted or ill-informed, we will find ourselves full of fear and worry and anxiety. We need to enlarge our view of God so that whatever comes our way we will remain confident and filled with hope. God is much bigger than we imagine!

God made the universe. Yes, He actually made it from scratch without any help from anyone. He designed it, created it, sustained it and loved it. Billions of stars, millions of galaxies, a vastness that is mind-blowing and breathtaking. Out of nothing, God formed the entire universe in all its glory and splendour, demonstrating the enormity of His power and wisdom. He made the earth, its mountains and seas, its plants and birds, its animals and reptiles, its beauty and breathtaking splendour …. and then He made us!

From His own mind, He conceived everything and continues to watch over it with grace and mercy and love and compassion. He won’t forsake it and He won’t leave it to fate or chance. He is absolutely in control. No force anywhere can overrule Him, out-think Him, overtake Him or overthrow Him. He is all-powerful, all-knowing and everywhere present. Everything that dares to challenge Him will be brought low; every force that thinks it can dethrone Him will find itself dethroned!

Despite the world rebellion and the entrance of sin, God is still firmly in control. He can’t be defeated, He cannot be outwitted, He will always have the last word. Psalm 121:1 says:

“I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.”

The book of Psalms is full of encouragement to look to God. The New Testament consistently points to just how big God is. Every child of God has access to the Father’s presence. We need to spend quality time looking at God and realising just how awesome He is. God, who is vast beyond all measure, chooses to adopt us into His family and commit Himself to looking after us. All He is, He puts at our disposal so that our strength and courage come directly from Him.

We are very privileged to have access to so much information about God - but it’s no use if it’s just head-knowledge. It has to sink into our heart, so we experience God for who He is. He alone has the answers for today.

“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us…” - Ephesians 3:20.

PRAYER - Why don’t you ask God to reveal Himself to you? Expect to see a God so vast that you’ll be in awe. Pray for others that they too will see God too, in all HIs glory. God is not small, He is vast!
